Narcissism and the Sexual

I had a run in with some younger kids last night.   Youth always tends towards the narcissistic -- part of the developmental process I suppose.  The self-absorbed young, mirror my Internet sexual experiences and I realized that the default sexual position is fucking yourself in the mirror.

How else do you explain the complete inability of most males of the species to realize that random cock shots are only arousing to themselves?  The instinctual process goes like this --

"Oh, I'm hard and feel so horny.  This looks so powerful.  I feel so sexy.  I want that woman.  She will see me hard and horny and think I'm sexy.  Hey, Look!"  Ooops.

Sexual and erotic writing, unless great care is taken, can fall into the narcissism whirlpool.  I find myself in a constant struggle to make my writing -- both sexual and non-sexual-- empathetic.  Not an easy task.

Sexual advancement comes when you can actually look outside yourself and realize that the thing that turns you on, may in fact not be what turns on someone else.    Sexual maturity comes when you can figure out what turns the other person on -- and deliver.
